The London Taxi is a very versatile vehicle, incredibly rugged, reliable and surprisingly affordable. It's not unusual for these workhorses to cover over 1,000,000 miles in a 10 year period so in addition to the need for them to be distinctive and easily recognized as a Hackney Carriage, they have to be durable, reliable and fit for any purpose.
A design and build process of evolution rather than revolution has given us the London style taxi known all around the world today.
Wheelchair access in some taxis can be a real problem. But the TX2 has a shallow ramp due to its low floor line, making it suitable for both manual and electric wheelchair users to safely get in and out of the vehicle straight on to, or from, the pavement. The passenger compartment is spacious and designed to accommodate wheelchair users easily.
