1979 Mercedes-Benz 450SL for sale finished in Black with a Tobacco Brown interior and purchased new at W. I. Simonson Mercedes-Benz in Santa Monica. This two-owner California R107 is nicely preserved, presents well, and is ready to enjoy. It includes a good cache of service records dating back to the early 1980s, a complete set of books and manuals, and even the original stamped data tag. This is a nice classic ready to enjoy.
Under the hood is tidy and clean. The 4.5L V8 starts and runs smoothly with plenty of power. The handling is tight with the rebuilt front suspension having only 2k miles since completion. In addition, many major repairs were done at 109,400 miles including a new expansion tank, intake manifold gaskets, injectors, thermostat and gasket, radiator, and fan clutch along with a rebuilt air conditioning and heating system. The fluids are clean and everything is in good working order making it a very nice running and driving classic 450SL.
The exterior presents quite well on this 44-year-old classic. The finish has a nice shine along with the trim, glass, and lenses. There are traces of touchup paint and wear typical of a car this age though overall it looks great. The cloth top is in good shape with tight stitching and good visibility through the rear windows. The car still wears its correct Barock style rims wrapped in an older set of matching Michelin P205/70 R14s. Overall this is an attractive R107.
The cockpit is clean and comfortable with all systems in good working order. The original seating, door panels, cards, and rugs show well. A hard dash cover was recently installed to cover a few unsightly, typical cracks these dashes are prone to over the years. The steering wheel is in nice shape and all the gauges are clear and in good working order making this a very nice SL to be in.
