This 1978 Reliant Scimitar GTE is a rare one, possibly the only one in the USA, and certainly the only one in this fully restored condition. This vehicle has been subject of a 2 year Body Off Nut and Bolt rebuild to concours standard, completed early in 1997 and has covered about 5,000 miles since.
Equipped with it's V6 engine and 4 speed manual with O/D, this Scimitar starts, runs and drives as it did when new. Options/Features Wolfrace Alloy Wheels (factory installed), Webasto Coachbuilt Sunroof, Head Restraints, Stereo Radio Cassette Player, Stainless Steel Exhaust Systems, Stainless Steel Water Pipes, Stainless Steel Exhaust Manifolds, Electric Windows, Towing Equipment, SunDym Tinted Glass, Power Assisted Steering, Locking Wheel Nuts, Alarm System, Fire Extinguisher, Halogen Headlamps.
BODYWORK: Body removed from the chassis, completely stripped and repainted in original color Quartz Green to concours standard including engine bay, under bonnet and door shuts etc. Paintwork does show some age and patina but in truth shows beautifully.
CHASSIS: With the body and all mechanical components removed the Bare Chassis was grit blasted. The outer Sill Outriggers replaced then powder coated along with the rear axle and most suspension parts.
INTERIOR: Original Seats in Tan Cloth carefully cleaned and immaculate. The carpets have been replaced. The headlining has been renewed along with the outer cover of the fabric sunroof all to concours standard. The interior is simply amazing and virtually as new throughout.
MECHANICAL: Mechanically the car is outstanding and runs and drives beautifully. The shift is smooth and precise with the electronic overdrive working correctly. The engine, suspension, steering and brakes have all been stripped and rebuilt and all worn parts replaced. The gearbox and overdrive unit has been stripped and examined then rebuilt with all new seals and gaskets. The axle has been checked and serviced.
Currently the car is in beautiful condition throughout. Having been 15 years since restoration there is some age showing in a few areas but overall the car is exceptional.
Car was imported legally with all correct paperwork into the USA in 2006 from the UK. It is titled in Michigan and has a clean assignable Michigan title. There are two sets of keys copy of the British MOT (roadworthy) certificate and old tax discs. It was purchased by it's most current owner, a California collector who loves the car yet is unable to register in California (California requirements are the most strict in the country, current owner was unaware of the 1976 cutoff when he purchased this car. (Your state may not even require a smog check, please check to see if 1978 vehicles are exempt in your state, click here for list).
I have scanned several documents including MOT certifications, Graham Walker Certificate of Evaluation, title and more. Click here to see. Great opportunity to own what is possibly one of the only Scimitars in the USA.
