Nice 1973 TVR 'M Series by TVR Engineering for sale at Left Coast Classics. This beautiful TVR shows just 37,600 miles and we believe that total to be original. It was owned for 15 years by a dedicated British car enthusiast here in the Bay area. He bought it locally, and it appears to have been a West Coast car from inception.
While not a show car, it's remarkably clean inside and out, has some original patina and oozes authenticity.
The previous owner performed a great deal of refurbishment and added some delightful upgrades. It was given a full repaint about 10 years ago. The paint remains very strong although it does have some inevitable small areas of crazing. An overdrive unit was added which effectively makes it a six-speed, and makes a world of difference for highway driving.
At the same time, a new clutch was fitted. High-capacity electric fans keep it cool and a high-capacity oil cooler was added; it runs cool on hot Northern bay area days. A tinted rear window from a later car was also added along with electric rear window defrost. (The new rear window is not a perfect fit, although the difference is not noticeable -- the original rear window comes with the car). A custom exhaust makes fantastic noises!
The TVR starts easily and runs strongly. Last spring it was given a thorough service. It truly feels like a mini- Le Mans GT. The sensations -- noise, seating position, shifting, throttle response -- are more fun than any car we've sampled. Handling is fantastic.
They design was set up for a low polar moment, and the car is light on its feet, with very fast turn-in response. Yet, because it is so light, the springing and damping is not harsh, and so, the ride is very comfortable. The (new) period-appropriate Michelin tires are quiet and provide a good ride/handling balance.
The car comes with a thick file of past history documenting the work performed by the previous owner. There is even a TVR Car Club key fob! It's a great, solid, fantastic car with a great deal of integrity.
