Very original 1969 Ford Mustang Convertible for sale. This California car was purchased new in Hawaii then brought to California less than a year later. It has been with the same family since. It still wears the old, original black and gold California license plates, the last of which were issued at the end of 1969.
This San Jose built example was repainted once in its super rare factory Indian Fire of which only 624 were finished in. It came equipped from the factory with the 302ci V8, C4 Crusie-o-Matic transmission, 2.79 axle, power steering, power front disc brakes, power top, power clock and more. A few options have been added over the years including Rally wheels, proper center console and heat as it was common for cars ordered for Hawaii to have heater delete.
See the Marti Report and window sticker below. Over the last few years it hasn't been getting used much and the family made the difficult decision of passing it along to someone that will appreciate and care for it.
The 302ci was replaced 4,000 miles ago in 2005 with a brand new 351 Windsor Crate from Summit and runs beautifully bumping its original 230HP horsepower to 290HP with the added reliability of a new, tight motor! The shifting is tight, the braking responsive and the suspension feels good. The added Classic Magnum 500 Rally Wheels are wrapped in 215/70R 14's but are aged, hardened and will need immediate replacing.
The car has seen one repaint of its rare Indian Fire in the 1980s and still shines. The body is in very good overall shape with some age-inevitable imperfections. The only rust appearing on the entire car is in the lower passenger door corner. Otherwise, be sure to see the video where I walk the lower portion of the car with a magnet. Luckily, the last engines leaky disposition provided plenty of added protection to its 100% rust-free undercarriage! There are no leaks now and the undercarriage is as straight and rust-free as they come!
The interior has had a few items replaced over the years such as carpet, seat and dash covers. It is comfortable and very nice to cruise in. The gauges are all in working order along with the power top. The radio is not turning on but we're going to take a look at that and if its something simple we will address. Since this was originally a "Heater Delete" car, the family installed a factory heater system back in the '70s. It tends to leak a bit and is currently bypassed though the fan is in good working order.
This is a very honest, well-loved, nicely documented classic Mustang with an extremely short owners list, excellent options, black California plates, a clear title, and Marti Report.
