Very special 1968 Camaro Rally Sport for sale. Until a year ago this was just a one-owner Camaro. It was purchased new at Fairway Chevrolet in San Bruno California and nicely equipped with a vinyl roof, Rally sport equipment package, power brakes, AM radio, center console, floormats, custom interior upgrade, auxiliary lighting, sport striping, fold-down rear seat, rear bumper guards, deluxe seat belts, wheel covers, tinted windshield, power steering, Powerglide transmission, front bumper guards, door edge guards, and finished in butternut yellow with black vinyl trim.
It includes the owner's manual, owner protection plan including Protecto plate, the original factory window sticker, and new vehicle inspection sheet from the dealer along with a small cash of records.
The original numbers-matching 327ci engine starts, idles, and runs well with plenty of power. We do not know if it has ever been rebuilt but it seems to be in good running condition. The Powerglide transmission shifts smoothly through the gears as well. It has new KY shocks all around and handles nicely.
It has a newer dual exhaust system that sounds great. Overall it is a nice driving car. It rides on an older set of BF Goodrich P235/60 R15s, with plenty of treads that should be replaced due to age.
The exterior is original though it has an older, consumer-level repaint of the original Butternut yellow with wear and dings as shown. It appears that the vinyl top was replaced at some point as it looks very good. The trim, lenses, and chrome appear to be original though the original Rally wheels appear to have been refinished at some point. Probably best described as a good 10-20-footer.
Inside looks to be mostly original, well-preserved after 56 years though it looks as though the carpeting was replaced. The dash, door panels, and upholstery have held up well though there is some wear on the left-side driver bolser as to be expected. The original steering wheel is still in the car, gauges, headliner, etc.
The original radio was bypassed when the underdash 8-track system was installed, presumably around the time that the car was new. Currently, the wipers work when the button is pushed but not when the knob is turned, all windows go up and down nicely. Horn and fan work. Overall it is highly functional.
This is a great opportunity to own a California survivor worthy of restoration or to enjoy as a preservation car. Be sure to check out all 350+ photos and the video below.
