Nice little 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible for sale. Purchased new on May 4th of 1964 at Luchford Sales Incorporated in Palo Alto, California, Built August 24th of 1964 and built-in San Jose, California. Factory finished in Wimbledon White with a black interior, 289ci V8, C4 Automatic and a 2:80:1 rear axle, bucket seats, and a center console.
Equipped with Cruise-o-Matic transmission, power steering, backup lights, push-button AM radio and antenna, two-speed electric wipers and washers, day-night rearview mirror, and whitewall tires for $3,313.20. This two owner early Mustang includes the original owner's manual and purchase receipt from the dealer, a handful of records and even both original-issue black and gold license plates!
The 289ci V8 starts and runs smoothly with plenty of power. The Cruise-o-Matic C4 Automatic transmission shifts nicely through the gears, and the suspension and braking feel nice. It has a 2:80:1 rear axle making it relaxing for highway cruising. Overall it is a nice running and driving car.
Inside it is in good shape and looks nice. All of the gauges and systems are in good working order though the radio is currently inoperable. It has new carpet, dash pad and a few other items making it very comfortable and presentable.
The exterior is tidy and rust-free throughout. The chrome and trim are presentable, and the older manual convertible top is in good shape and easy to put up and down. The car was repainted many years ago in its original Wimbledon White, and while it has a nice shine, it is showing its age up close with patina'd areas and some touchup, making it best described as a "good ten-footer."
Overall, however, it is a very presentable driver-quality car with a very nice and straight body. (Be sure to watch the section of the video where I walk around the body with a magnet). The body is the quintessential California rust-free example with no signs of lower body filler either. A rare thing on a 56-year-old car!
This is a great opportunity to have a nicely looked after 2-owner California Mustang Convertible!
