Smooth Running 1965 Chevrolet Impala 396 for Sale
Very special, 2-owner 1965 Chevrolet Impala 396 for sale with only 75,275 original miles. This California car was assembled in Los Angeles in July of 1965 and purchased new at Comanche Chevrolet in Santa Rosa, California December of 1965 equipped with the 396ci big block and a Turbo 400 automatic transmission.
It includes the original owner's manual, pouch, and owner protection plan book with embossed Protecto-Plate. It was purchased by its second owner in 2001 and has been well-maintained, used sparingly, and properly stored.
The original 396ci engine starts, runs, and idles smoothly with plenty of power and no issues. The previous owner overhauled the motor and rebuilt the transmission around 20k miles ago. The current owner refinished, resealed, and replaced several ancillary items more recently including a new fuel pump and carburetor. Flowmaster 50s were added. The performance is fantastic and this Impala is easy and enjoyable to drive.
The exterior was repainted during its first ownership and looks nice. There are some spots on the hood that its future owner may want to address. Otherwise, the finish is smooth and there are no signs of previous damage, the car has excellent quarter panels and no signs of rust other than the typical surface under the trunk mat which should easily clean up. The glass, stainless, lenses, and chrome present well making this a great-looking, mostly original, and well-preserved classic Chevrolet.
Inside looks to be mostly if not all original and very well preserved. The seating, rugs, door panels, cards, and padded dash have held up quite well and while there are a couple of areas in the headliner where the stitching has deteriorated the headliner is still serviceable as-is. The car is very comfortable to ride in, functional and tidy, and ready to enjoy.
