Well preserved, mostly original 1964 Ford Thunderbird Convertible for sale. This special example was purchased new at Ames Ford in San Rafael, California finished in Wimbledon White, white soft top, and a Light Blue Metallic interior.
It includes both original DMV issued black & gold license plates, original owners manual, shop manual, notes from previous owners, some miscellaneous records, and car cover. This is a nicely functional, mostly original car that has been used lightly with only 91,800 miles and from our records looks to have been driven a meager 2,000 miles since 1997.
The older Wimbledon white repaint was nicely done, shows well, and has a nice shine. The original trim presents well and the car even wears its original top. The body is rust-free along with the floors, rockers, and inner sills. It is a nice, rust-free example all around.
The most original interior looks nice and the carpet was recently replaced. Most of the upholstery shows well though there is splitting in the bottom driver's seat area.
The dash has held up well over its 58-year lifespan, all in all, the cockpit is lovely. The interior systems are mostly working except for the clock and wipers. The power top was recently serviced and is in good working order. The slide-way steering is currently inoperable though it does not affect the functionality/drivability.
The car runs well with plenty of power, excellent shifting, and braking. The original V8 390ci 4Bbl engine starts and runs well.
Since it was designed for leaded fuel an additive should be used and expect some mild blue exhaust at times. The car has only been driven a few hundred miles over the last 4 or 5 years so some exercise should be good for it. This classic Thunderbird tracks straight down the road riding on a newer set of Coker Classics.
