Rare 1960 Mercury Park Lane 2-Door Pillarless Hardtop for sale. This car was purchased by its previous owner from the original owner in the early 2000s and brought from Texas to California where it has been kept indoors since. It even has the original 1960 Motor Vehicle Inspection decal affixed to the windshield.
It was delivered new in Sultana White with a Silver/Gray interior and equipped with the desirable 430/310 HP V8 Engine and Automatic Dual-Range Transmission. It currently shows 96k miles and while we cannot be sure, it appears they might be original. Comes with a clear, California title.
The optional, larger 430 cubic inch 310 HP V8 starts, runs, and idles smoothly and quietly with plenty of power and no smoking. It has a new battery, spark plugs, and fluids along with a rebuilt carburetor and general servicing. The Automatic Dual-Range Transmission shifts through the gears smoothly with no issues. Braking is great with brand-new brake shoes, wheel cylinders, and brake hoses. We installed new sway bar bushings and rear air shocks for better handling as well.
The exterior was repainted years ago and still has a nice shine to it. It has some touched-up areas and flaws yet still presents nicely. The chrome, stainless, lenses, and glass all look to be original. A brand new set of New Kontio White Paw Classic 2.5" Whitewall Radials have been installed to keep the original look. The body shows no rot though there is a small spot at the bottom of the passenger door as seen in the photos. Overall it is a good-looking, driver-quality car.
Inside the car interior looks to be mostly original except for the seating which appears to have been reupholstered at some point using the correct fabric. The headliner and door panels appear original and are remarkably well-preserved after 63 years.
The dash is an atomic space age work of art with all systems in good working order though the clock, fuel gauge, and radio are currently inoperable. It is very comfortable and easy to drive with factory power steering, power brakes, and working power windows. The trunk includes a mat, jack, lugwrench, and an old bias-ply spare tire.
