Beautiful, fully restored 1955 Austin-Healey BN1 100-4 for sale, one of only 10,030 BN1s built. This special 100-4 was purchased by its current owner's father on September 10, 1962, from its first owner when living in Southern California. It has been a treasured family heirloom, a legacy car, and now it is time to find it a new, great home.
This special BN1 has been well cared for and beautifully restored and refurbished over a several-year period beginning in 2007 until recently. It is finished in factory Ice-Blue Metallic with a dark blue leather interior and blue carpet and includes spare, jack, registration slips, 48 pages (partial) of records dating back to 1976, and a factory service manual with notes showing that the current owner acquired the car on September 10th of 1962.
The car was mechanically refreshed just a couple of hundred miles ago, the refurbished 2660cc Inline 4 runs beautifully with electronic ignition and new ancillaries. The recently rebuilt reverse-gated manual 3-speed shifts smoothly through the gears and with factory overdrive in on second and top.
The car has excellent handling with its rebuilt front and rear suspension, new sway bars, rebuilt worm & peg steering system, and factory Girling drum brakes. The car is in excellent mechanical condition and exhilarating to drive.
The body is and was rust-free, completely disassembled, and professionally repainted with Metallic Ice Blue. It is razor straight and the finish is smooth with excellent panel alignment and excellent attention to detail. It has a newer cloth top, and a nice set of side curtains, and the trim, glass, rubber, and wire wheels are in excellent shape. The exterior shows beautifully with a lovely overall appearance.
Inside was refurbished during this period as well. It has all working gauges and switches, beautiful leather seating, new door panels, cards, and rugs making it very comfortable and presentable.
