Red Over Tan 1954 MGTF for Sale
Cool old 1954 MG TF finished in red with a matching interior and tan canvas top. This California car is nicely functional and ready to enjoy, and comes with a clean California title.
Under the bonnet, things look largely original. The 1,250cc, 1.25 liter motor fires up easily and runs well. The 4-speed manual transmission shifts smoothly through the gears. The SU carbs were rebuilt, and it’s running a newer cork valve cover gasket and a Napa battery dated June 2020. The engine runs cool, oil is clean, and the filter looks fresh — likely serviced around that same time. Factory data plates are intact on the firewall. Overall, it performs nicely and feels mechanically healthy.
Outside shows an older respray with plenty of character, with checking, chips, and touch-ups throughout. Gives it that classic, well-used look that enthusiasts tend to appreciate. The bumpers look to have been rechromed at some point (And yes, the driver’s door handle is sitting a little funny in the photos — we’ll have that corrected; I just wanted to get the pictures done.)
All five wire wheels have been refinished and look great, wrapped in a matching set of Nexen SB8002 165/80R15s dated 2020 with virtually no miles (ignore the over-zealous tire dressing the detailers used). The windshield appears to be original — clear and free of cracks. The canvas top is new and fits nicely.
Inside is comfortable and tidy with replacement seat covers, door panels, and cards, along with a newer steering wheel, underdash AM radio with speaker. The gauges all work, as do the blinkers and horn. Modern seat belts have been added for safety.
