This is a very nice 1949 Ford Deluxe Woody for sale. In 1949 Ford car line was redesigned from the ground up adopting a drop-center ladder frame and coil spring independent front suspension and longitudinal rear leaf springs for improved handling.
This California Woody left the factory with the 8BA Ford Flat V8. It was frame-on restored sometime in the 1990s and looks to have been lightly used, nicely cared for, and kept inside. It is nicely finished in dark blue with red accents and a comfortable, period-correct tan interior ready to enjoy.
The exterior shows nicely with beautiful, smooth, and glossy single-stage paint. The wood is in good condition and the trim, lenses, and chrome show nicely. It rides on classic red steel rims with trim rings and emblemed dish hubcaps that are wrapped in an older set of P215/60 R15 radials with 90%+ tread remaining.
Over the years it has amassed some fun vintage Woody event stickers from Santa Cruz to Escondido and even wears its YOM yellow and black California license plates. It has a great classic look that turns heads wherever it goes.
Inside the car is comfortable and complete. Much if not all of it looks to have been refreshed or replaced when restored. The speedometer and odometer are in good working condition and dual temperature gauges have been added under the dash.
All lighting and wipers are in working order. The factory radio has been bypassed and there is a modern stereo installed in the glove box. The oil gauge works and shows excellent pressure. Currently, the fuel gauge and clock are inoperable. The seating, panels, rugs, and headliner look great and the dash has a mild patina making it very nice to cruise in.
The Ford flathead V8 starts right up, idles smoothly, burns clean, and runs well with plenty of power. The 3-speed manual overdrive transmission shifts well up and down through the gears and the braking and suspension feel good.
It has a nice and tidy restored engine compartment with dual carbs, Offenhauser heads, Fenton intake manifold, dual brake system, electric fan, chrome dressed alternator and upper water pipes, newer fuel tank, and a newer set of Bilstein shocks. This is a nice driving Woody for relaxed drives and touring.
