Rare 1947 Ford Sportsman Roadster for Sale

1947 Ford Sportsman Convertible for sale, one of 2,274 produced. This car was purchased in stock form by its most recent owner in 1991 from the previous owner who had it since 1975. Its transformation from stock to custom was completed in 2010. At that time it was appraised at $135,000.

The exterior is finished in Blue Marine. The car appears to have been fully disassembled and painted on a rotisserie. It has been touched up here and there over the years and has imperfections yet still puts off a nice shine and looks good overall.

The woodwork looks good though the trunk is showing some sun fade and should be refinished and a couple of pieces glued down. The removable Carson top fabric looks nice but the custom wood frame around the rear plastic window will need to be cleaned up as it is a bit warped and cracked. Otherwise this Sportsman has a cool, unique look overall

The crate Chevrolet 350ci V8 starts quickly and runs smoothly with plenty of power and no hesitation. The TH400 automatic shifts smoothly through the gears. It has a Ford 9" rear end, 4-wheel power disc brakes with new rotors new calipers, power steering, and tight suspension.

It rides on a new set of Boyd Coddington chrome 5-spoke wheels wrapped in 245/50 R17s in the rear and 235/45 R17s up front. Under the hood, it has an engine dress-up kit with chrome valve covers, a chrome alternator cover, and a chrome air cleaner.

Inside is very comfortable with a leather interior, tilt steering, power seats, and power windows. Please note that the power windows are semi-operational and will need work, there are no rear side windows, the blinker assembly is in place but was never wired and there is no wiper motor. The outdated stereo is also inoperable and should be replaced.

This is a very cool and unique build that is ready for a hands-on enthusiast who wants to use and enjoy it while tidying up a few loose ends.
